Abstract:
The transcriptome of the mollusc Succinea putris was obtained for the first time. Transcripts of proteins involved in immune responses were identified. Transcripts encoding molecules from all major groups involved in innate immunity responses were detected. The most abundant group of immune-relevant transcripts comprised sequences encoding pathogen recognition receptors - such as lectins, Toll-like receptors, scavenger receptors, and others - as well as adhesion molecules. The structures of the predicted PRRs in S. putris are very diverse. Notably, some of the predicted pathogen recognition molecules exhibit unique domain architectures not previously reported in other molluscan species.
