Abstract:
While clinical cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is performed on 1.5T and 3T MR imaging systems, high-field and low-field scanners operating at field strengths including 7T and 0.55T have been explored for CMR. These less common systems have unique advantages which may enable improved imaging of the heart in some specific applications. However, these MR imaging systems are also associated with significant challenges, complicating their routine clinical use. Part 2 of this 2 part article describes low-field MR imaging systems which have been used for CMR, explains their limitations, and touches upon the unique CMR applications.
