Statement on the targeted review of certain existing maximum residue levels of concern for lambda-cyhalothrin

In compliance with Article 43 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) received a mandate from the European Commission to carry out a targeted review of certain existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for lambda-cyhalothrin. This request follows previous EFSA assessments which identified possible acute dietary intake concerns for several commodities when applying the latest version of the EFSA PRIMo model (revision 3.1). EFSA was requested to consult Member States on authorised good agricultural practices and supporting residue data which might allow setting of safe MRLs, perform a consumer risk assessment using current residue definitions and toxicological values, and propose safe MRLs for the commodities of concern. Based on the data available and received from Member States under the present assessment, fall-back MRLs were proposed for all commodities of concern.
