Background:
The high prevalence of trauma exposure and subsequent negative consequences for both survivors and society as a whole emphasize the need for secondary prevention of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This research aimed to investigate the mediator effect of emotion regulation strategies in the relation between motivation and dysregulation of emotion.
Materials And Methods:
A structural equation modeling (SEM) approach was used in this study. The design of the present study was descriptive and correlational using structural equation modeling. The population included all of Tehran's citizens in 2024. In total, 300 people were selected based on the SEM approach. Finally, the data were collected and analyzed by Pearson correlation and structural equation modeling using SPSS software (version 19) and AMOS software (version 20).
Results:
The structural equation parameters for the modified research model were acceptable (X2 = 67.92; df = 40; X2/df = 1.70; P = 0.004; GFA = 0.95; AGFI = 0.92; CFI = 0.96; RMSEA = 0.05). Also, all direct effects between the research variables were significant.
Conclusion:
The results of this study showed that the model fits the data. These results highlighted the importance of emotion regulation strategies for motivation and dysregulation of emotion in PTSD patients. Therefore, the awareness of teachers, parents, adolescents, counselors, psychologists, and other professionals to promote motivation and emotion regulation can be helpful.
