Disasters, both natural and man-made, pose significant challenges to healthcare systems, disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations, including individuals with kidney diseases. Nephrology professionals face critical demands during such crises, including the management of acute kidney injury, ensuring dialysis continuity, and providing care for kidney transplant recipients. This manuscript examines the need for training and capacity building among nephrology professionals to ensure effective disaster response. By leveraging evidence from global experiences and drawing on innovative approaches like simulation exercises, e-learning platforms, and international collaborations, we propose a framework to enhance the preparedness and resilience of nephrology professionals.
