Abstract:
The optokinetic response (OKR) within zebrafish larvae consists of automatic stereotypical eye movements in response to a visual stimulus. This response is characterized by a tracking (slow phase) followed by a rapid (fast phase) saccade in the opposite direction to the stimulus. Studying OKR behavior provides valuable information on the visual function of genetically modified animals. Here we describe a method for assessing visual function and color vision testing in zebrafish larvae at 5 days postfertilization.
