Abstract:
Spectral fringe projection is a technique for encoding a spectrally varying field of harmonic fringes, enabled by placing a diffraction grating in the path of a standard commercial projector. Using a snapshot spectral imager, we reconstruct the height profile of an opaque object from a single camera frame. Because the phases of the spectral fringe field are not precisely controlled, we explain the changes that need to be made to standard phase-shifting approaches in order to make this work. Finally, we show experimental results from the single-frame measurement of a stair-stepped object and a 3D video of a moving hand.
