Genetic evidence suggests a causal relationship linking thyroid function to osteomyelitis

Hypothyroidism, but not hyperthyroidism, causally increases osteomyelitis risk. This genetic study suggests monitoring hypothyroidism patients for bone infection to prevent osteomyelitis.
