Abstract:
We report an irreversible change in temperature modulation induced by the spin Peltier effect (SPE) in a Pt/Y3Fe5O12(YIG) system due to heating after Pt deposition. The SPE-induced temperature response was measured using the lock-in thermography method for the Pt/YIG sample before and after high-temperature heating. The magnitude of the SPE signal in the heated sample was found to be reduced to approximately half of that in the unheated sample. Elemental analysis of the Pt layer after heating revealed the presence of Fe atoms, suggesting diffusion from the YIG layer into the Pt film during the heating process. In addition, lock-in thermography measurements demonstrated that heating-induced modifications of the Pt film quality on YIG are reflected in changes in the Peltier coefficient. These findings highlight the importance of considering irreversible changes in the metal film properties due to heating when investigating thermo-spin effects at high temperatures.
