Using five-wave Japanese panel data (2019-23; N = 14 271), we identified four drinking-frequency classes: abstinent/very infrequent, monthly, weekly, and almost daily. Adjusted multinomial logistic regression models showed extraversion predicted higher-frequency membership, whereas conscientiousness reduced intermediate-frequency odds. An agreeableness × conscientiousness term suggested possible moderation. Results add to evidence on personality-drinking associations in the Japanese general population.
