From Philosophy to Practice: A Structured Framework for Holistic Care in Clinical Practice

Holistic care addresses health as a multidimensional construct encompassing physical, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being, yet its consistent clinical implementation remains limited. Current education emphasizes holistic principles but lacks structured, operational frameworks, leading to fragmented responsibility across specialties. This article proposes a three-part holistic care framework integrating standardized holistic pathways, individualized holistic assessment, and active patient engagement through patient-reported outcomes. By combining patient journey mapping, validated assessment tools, and digital patient relationship management, the framework enables early identification of unmet needs, coordinated interdisciplinary care, and improved patient-centered outcomes across clinical settings.
