  • To evaluate the Engendering Reproductive Health within Oncologic Survivorship (EROS) multilevel intervention.
  • To determine if EROS improves reproductive health goal-concordant management within 3 months of cancer diagnosis.

Main Methods:

  • A cluster randomized trial involving 17 US National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) sites.
  • Sites were randomized to the EROS reproductive health intervention (RHI) or standard of care (SC).
  • Included patients aged 15-55 years with a new cancer diagnosis; primary outcome was reproductive health goal-concordant management.

Main Results:

  • Reproductive health goal-concordant management was achieved by 65.7% of women in RHI sites versus 47.3% in SC sites (OR, 2.07).
  • The intervention significantly improved concordance for women who had completed childbearing (OR, 2.92; P = .002).
  • No significant effect was observed for women who had not completed childbearing (OR, 1.17; P = .60).

Conclusions:

  • The EROS intervention significantly improved reproductive health goal-concordant care, especially for patients who completed childbearing.
  • This multilevel intervention shows promise for enhancing adherence to national guidelines at the intersection of cancer survivorship and reproductive health.
  • EROS offers a potential framework to improve quality of life for reproductive-age cancer patients.
