Fully conjugated two-dimensional materials have enabled groundbreaking advances in organic electronics and photocatalysis, yet extending these properties into the third dimension remains a formidable synthetic challenge, primarily due to the scarcity of high-connectivity conjugated building blocks. Herein, we report the design and synthesis of an unprecedented 6-connected, all sp2-hybridized carbon building block, cyclododecahexaene-hexathiophene-hexaaldehyde (CDHTh-6CHO), and its successful incorporation into a series of three-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (3D-CDHTh-COFs, designated JUC-690, -691, -692). These frameworks constitute the first examples of 3D COFs constructed from a high-connected conjugated core. The extended π-conjugation throughout the 3D skeleton endows these materials with exceptional charge transport properties, exhibiting band-like transport behavior with tunable Hall electron mobilities (up to 1.32 cm2 V-1 s-1). Furthermore, the 3D-CDHTh-COFs demonstrate outstanding photocatalytic performance, as evidenced by the highly efficient and selective aerobic oxidation of thioanisole (up to 99%). This work not only introduces a pioneering architecture for high-connected conjugated building blocks but also establishes a new platform of 3D full conjugated COFs with significant potential in optoelectronics and heterogeneous photocatalysis.

π Molecular Orbitals of 1,3-Butadiene
The simplest conjugated diene is 1,3-butadiene: a four-carbon system where each carbon is sp2-hybridized and has an unhybridized p orbital that contains an unpaired electron. According to molecular orbital theory, atomic orbitals combine to form molecular orbitals such that the...
Conformations of Cyclohexane
The chair form is the most stable and derives its name from its resemblance to the “easy chair.” In the chair conformation, two carbon atoms are arranged out-of-plane — one above and one below, minimizing the torsional strain. In the chair form, the bond angle is very close to the ideal...
Network Covalent Solids
To break or to melt a covalent network solid, covalent bonds must be broken. Because covalent bonds are relatively strong, covalent network solids are typically...
Chair Conformation of Cyclohexane

Crystal Field Theory - Tetrahedral and Square Planar Complexes
Crystal field theory (CFT) is applicable to molecules in geometries other than octahedral. In octahedral complexes, the lobes of the dx2−y2 and dz2 orbitals point directly at the ligands. For tetrahedral complexes, the d orbitals remain in place, but with only four ligands located between the axes. None of the orbitals points directly at the tetrahedral ligands. However, the dx2−y2 and dz2 orbitals (along the Cartesian axes) overlap with the ligands less than...
