Abstract:
The core characteristic of endodontic periodontic lesions (EPL) lies in the bidirectional infectious-inflammatory pathway formed between the pulp and periodontal systems, making it one of the most challenging conditions in endodontics. EPL exhibit multifactorial etiology, diverse and recurrent clinical manifestations, requiring dynamic adjustment of treatment strategies based on clinical evaluations to achieve higher prognostic certainty. Clinical assessment and early intervention for such affected teeth to improve outcomes had become focal and challenging issues for dental practitioners in recent years. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of EPL from three perspectives as etiology, diagnosis, and treatment strategies, highlighting the "three- dimensional diagnostic framework" and multidisciplinary collaborative therapies, aiming to offer references for early management and prevention of disease progression in EPL.
