Abstract:
A 50-year-old man presented to the emergency department with fever, neurological symptoms, and jaundice. Although imaging studies were unremarkable, blood tests revealed severe hemolytic anemia, profound thrombocytopenia, and impaired renal and cardiac function. The patient was rapidly admitted to the intensive care unit and improved within a few days. During hospitalization, global coagulation tests remained normal, but a markedly decreased von Willebrand factor activity was noted on day 15.
