Postoperative and postdischarge nausea and vomiting are common, costly complications that delay recovery and reduce satisfaction after ambulatory surgery. They stem from complex neurotransmitter pathways targeted by antiemetics. Accurate risk prediction is key, and multimodal prophylaxis is most effective.
