Abstract:
The health risks of metal(loid)s in soil are closely linked to their bioaccessibility, with varying contributions from different sources. In our research, three influencing factors are considered: bioaccessibility of surface soil, soil intake rate, and source analysis. Therefore, 96 soil and 153 hand soil/dust (SD) samples were collected from an operating industrial park in Gansu Province, and the source-specific health risks of As, Zn, and Pb based on bioaccessibility were analyzed. The average total contents of As, Pb, Zn, Cu, Cd and Hg in the surface soil were 39 mg/kg, 43 mg/kg, 187 mg/kg, 43 mg/kg, 321 μg/kg and 65 μg/kg, respectively. In the hand SD, the levels were 2.24 μg, 1.69 μg, 98.1 μg, 3.21 μg, 42.70 ng, and 9.24 ng, respectively. The content of tracer elements in hand SD was: V (0.65 μg) > Ce (0.31 μg) > Y (0.21 μg) > Sc (0.06 μg). The overall surface soil As contamination in the study area is serious, the concentrations of Pb, Zn, Cu, Cd and Hg in the surface soil are at a low level. The total content of bioaccessibility components from metal(loid)s-industrial sources increases the human carcinogenic risk. This study emphasizes the use of bioaccessibility, specific source analysis, and soil intake rates (SIR) can more accurately assess the health risks of metal(loid)s to humans. A precise intervention plan based on blocking exposure pathways should be formulated, raising environmental health risks to the level of social equity.

Toxic Reactions: Overview
Toxicity falls into two primary categories: local and systemic.
Local toxicity appears at the exposure site, such as protein denaturation caused by caustic substances.
In contrast, systemic toxicity requires the toxic agent's absorption and distribution,...
