FDG PET/CT in a Case of Diffuse Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Abstract:
Esophageal cancer usually shows focal intense FDG uptake on FDG PET. Diffuse FDG uptake pattern of the esophageal cancer has been rarely reported. We describe FDG PET/CT findings in a case of poorly differentiated esophageal squamous cell carcinoma diffusely involving the entire esophagus. FDG PET/CT showed diffuse irregular thickening of the entire esophageal wall with diffusely intense FDG uptake with SUV max of 15 and multiple FDG-avid lymph nodes and osteolytic bone metastases.
