Abstract:
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a genetic cardiac disease associated with an increased risk of sudden cardiac death. Left ventricular (LV) apical aneurysms may develop in patients with HCM and are linked to an adverse prognosis. We present the case of a 68-year-old woman with HCM who was found to have aneurysmal dilatation of the LV basal segments on transthoracic echocardiography. Coronary angiography revealed no obstructive epicardial coronary artery disease. Unlike the typical apical aneurysm pattern, this case highlights a basal segment aneurysm in HCM and underscores the importance of careful echocardiographic evaluation in the diagnosis and follow-up of these patients.
