Abstract:
In the title compound, C33H21NO3, the dihedral angle between the naphthalene units is 10.85 (4)° and the pyran ring adopts a shallow boat conformation. In the crystal, C-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, enclosing R 2 2(16) ring motifs. Hirshfeld surface analysis revealed that the most important contributions for the crystal packing are from H⋯H, H⋯C/C⋯H, H⋯O/O⋯H and C⋯C inter-actions, at 45.8%, 27.3%, 11.2% and 9.6%, respectively.

Aromatic ring substitutions: Substituting the aromatic ring with –OH groups at positions 3 and 4 yields catecholamines (e.g., epinephrine), which have a high affinity for adrenoceptors. Hydrogen bonding between –OH groups and receptors enhances adrenergic activity.
