Abstract:
Background and Purpose: The Eating Attitudes Test is a well-established tool for identifying eating disorders. This research sought to assess the validity and reliability of the Farsi version of this tool among adults in Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional study, conducted in 2024, used a convenience sample of 600 Iranian adults in Tehran, Iran. The tool was translated into Farsi, and its psychometric properties were assessed through factor analyses, convergent and discriminant validity, and internal consistency for reliability. Results: The average age of the participants was 29.94 years (standard deviation = 7.00). Exploratory factor analysis identified three factors (13 items) explaining 63.10% of variance, and confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the final model. Reliability tests showed strong internal consistency and construct validity. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the Farsi adaptation of the Eating Attitudes Test demonstrates adequate validity and reliability for application within the Iranian adult population.
