  • Saline was infused at 5 mL/h, with normalized pressure recordings analyzed using Welch's t-test.
  • Main Results:

    • Mean normalized infusion pressure was significantly higher in intramuscular (0.3346 PSI) versus interfascial (0.1917 PSI) placements.
    • A statistically significant difference was observed (p = 7.22 × 10^-15) with a large effect size.
    • Despite statistical significance, the absolute pressure difference was small.

    Conclusions:

    • Mean normalized infusion pressure varied between interfascial and intramuscular catheter positions ex vivo.
    • The absolute pressure differences were minimal, lacking clinical discriminative ability.
    • Findings are exploratory, do not support clinical applicability, and do not define a usable threshold.
