Abstract:
The batch processor KdMultigrid for generating look-up tables with distribution coefficients (Kd) is introduced. These tables can be used for radioecological and transport modeling. KdMultigrid works by repeatedly calling the executable of the well-known geochemical code PHREEQC for multiple combinations of soil parameters (e.g. pH, concentrations of significant ions, organic matter content) specified in the graphical user interface of KdMultigrid. The Kd values are calculated according to the component additive UNiSeCs III approach (described in the appendix) which has to be specified for a particular soil in the PHREEQC input script. KdMultigrid can also be used for the evaluation of soil parameter sensitivity of the solid/liquid distribution and for the estimation of Kd probability distributions with respect to combinations of relevant parameters.
