In this issue of Developmental Cell, Stamatiou et al.1 dissect the role of three chromatin-associated PP1 regulatory subunits during mitotic exit. Using rapid degradation and multi-omics approaches they reveal distinct, non-overlapping functions of Ki-67, Repo-Man, and PNUTS in genome stability and the establishment of the G1 nucleus.
