Abstract:
The inaugural session of the Asian Society of Young Gynecologic Oncologists (ASYGO), held during Asian Society of Gynecologic Oncology 2025, focused on training pathways and learning curves in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) for young gynecologic oncologists. Country reports from Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, and Indonesia highlighted the rapid expansion of MIS alongside persistent disparities in training infrastructure, mentorship access, and competency assessment. While digital resources, simulation programs, and cadaver-based training have expanded educational opportunities, standardized oncology-specific curricula and cross-institutional assessment frameworks remain limited across the region. Despite differences in healthcare systems, common challenges emerged, including unequal access to high-volume centers, insufficient hands-on training, and lack of harmonized quality assurance mechanisms. Participants reached consensus on the need to harmonize gynecologic oncology education across Asia and establish a pan-Asian training framework aimed at equitable access and standardized competencies. ASYGO aims to function as a collaborative platform to develop competency-based curricula, mentorship networks, and regional evaluation systems. This session represents an initial step toward building a sustainable educational ecosystem to support the next generation of gynecologic oncologists in Asia.
