Abstract:
The scientific study of nature's functional beauty is called biomimetics. The Eiffel Tower's design, which was influenced by the trabecular structure of bone, is one of the most popular examples of using the biomimetics idea. The goals of applying biomimetic ideas and techniques in dentistry are to maintain tooth viability and architecture, enhance the life of restorative dental procedures, and avoid further reduction phases. Biomimetic dental materials are characterized by excellent physical and chemical properties and intrinsic biological compatibility. Because of their improved durability, preservation, revitalization, and antibacterial characteristics, they have been effectively utilized in a variety of dental specialties. It has also been shown that many biomimetic materials have the potential to overcome the significant shortcomings of their ancestors from earlier generations. This review was conducted to present recent advancements in the developing subject of biomimetics, namely restorative and regenerative dentistry. Many methods for tooth regeneration, remineralization, and restoration are also included in this review. Additionally, a range of biomimetic and tissue engineering dental restorative materials are discussed.
