Uninsured populations experience higher rates of unplanned pregnancies due to access barriers to contraception.
Long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), like intrauterine devices (IUDs), is highly effective but challenging to implement in independent clinics lacking funding or hospital ties.

Purpose of the Study:

To detail a sustainable model for integrating intrauterine device (IUD) services into an independent student-run free clinic (SRFC).
To demonstrate a replicable framework for expanding reproductive health services for uninsured patients.

Main Methods:

Partnered with Direct Relief for donated IUD devices.
Established a multidisciplinary workflow with standardized protocols and EHR inventory management.
Provided interprofessional training for student teams under faculty supervision.

Main Results:

Successfully implemented a LARC program within an independent SRFC.
The program is operational with a waitlist, indicating demand and capacity for 1-2 insertions per session.
Demonstrated a sustainable approach to offering advanced contraceptive services.
