The genome sequence of the Neglected Rustic moth, Xestia castanea (Esper, 1798) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

Abstract:
We present a genome assembly from an individual female Xestia castanea (Neglected Rustic; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Noctuidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 721.78 megabases and 685.53 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (99.81%) is scaffolded into 32 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the W, and Z sex chromosomes and a supernumerary chromosome B 1. Most of haplotype 2 (99.63%) is scaffolded into 32 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including a supernumerary chromosome B 2. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 15.36 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 15 258 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
