Sublingual Lipoma: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

Sublingual lipoma is an exceptionally rare benign lesion of the floor of the mouth and a potential diagnostic challenge because its clinical and radiologic features can overlap with those of other benign lesions. We report the case of a 37-year-old woman who presented with a painless mass in the left floor of the mouth. Magnetic resonance imaging suggested an epidermoid cyst, whereas surgical excision and histopathological examination confirmed a lipoma involving the sublingual gland region. The postoperative course was uneventful. This case highlights that sublingual lipoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of benign-appearing floor-of-mouth masses, as preoperative imaging may be misleading.
