Descriptive phenomenology seeks to understand the essence of lived experience. This article focuses specifically on the analysis of descriptive phenomenological data in Health Professions Education and introduces Colaizzi's method as a practical, seven-step approach. Throughout the analysis, the importance of reflexivity, bracketing (epoché), transparent documentation of analytic decisions and close grounding of themes in participants' words is emphasised.
