Birth Expectations of Women Ages 20-49: United States, 2022-2023
Introduction:
This report uses data from the 2022-2023 National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG) to present estimates of birth expectations by age, among women ages 20-49 in the United States.
Methods:
This report is based on data from 4,856 women ages 20-49 included in the 2022-2023 NSFG.
Key Findings:
More than one-half of women ages 20-29 in 2022-2023 who had no live births or only had one live birth expected to have a child in the future compared to one-third of those with two or more live births. About 2 out of every 5 women ages 20-29 with no live births did not expect to have any children in the future.
