Case Background:
A 53-year-old woman with no prior cardiac history presented with progressive dyspnea weeks after influenza and had signs of tachycardia. Electrocardiography showed a wide complex tachycardia with features of ventricular tachycardia. She was treated with metoprolol for rate control, and amiodarone restored normal sinus rhythm.
Take-Home Messages:
Ventricular tachycardia is a potentially fatal arrhythmia that needs urgent recognition and management. This electrocardiographic challenge shows the importance of recognizing ventricular tachycardia and differentiating it from its mimics.

Electrocardiogram Fundamentals
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a diagnostic tool for identifying cardiac conditions such as arrhythmias, conduction abnormalities, and myocardial ischemia.
Definition
An electrocardiogram (ECG) visualizes the heart's electrical activity by tracing the electrical movement associated with each heartbeat on a graph or monitor. As the heart beats, an electrical wave passes through it, correlating with the cardiac cycle events.

An ECG utilizes electrodes on the skin to...
