Cardiac Fibroma Associated With an Electrically Inactive Myocardial Area in Infancy

Background:
Cardiac fibromas are benign tumors associated with ventricular arrhythmias.
Case Summary:
An 8-month-old infant presented with cardiac arrest due to ventricular tachycardia. Imaging revealed a large infiltrative left ventricular fibroma with severe myocardial involvement. Due to catastrophic hypoxic-ischemic neurological injury and tumor extent, surgical resection and transplantation were not feasible. A conservative approach was adopted.
Discussion:
Cardiac fibromas may cause life-threatening arrhythmias. Multimodality imaging is essential to assess resectability, and management must be individualized.

Cardiac fibromas, although histologically benign, may manifest with life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias. Multimodality imaging is essential for diagnosis and assessment of resectability. Greater myocardial involvement is associated with increased risk of adverse outcomes and should guide clinical management.
