Summary

Maximal fat oxidation intensity (Fatmax) typically occurs at a lower exercise intensity than the lactate threshold/gas-exchange threshold (LT/GET). However, LT/GET can surrogate Fatmax in certain conditions, like in sedentary individuals or with specific testing protocols.
