Abstract:
In this particular chapter, we have tried to explore the essential role of biomarkers in managing different cancers, focusing on their importance in staging, prognosis, and guiding individualized treatment methodologies. We also gain significant insights into how different molecular, proteomic, and genetic cancer biomarkers can control tumor behavior, aid in predicting the outcome of patients, especially the stage of cancer, and facilitate the selection of the appropriate treatment modality. This chapter also sheds light on the most recent developments that have taken place in the field of biomarker discovery, different types of cancer biomarkers, the challenges that lie ahead in translating the research on biomarkers to a new treatment modality, and the future role of biomarkers in precision oncology.
