The issue of professional suffering among health care workers is becoming increasingly prominent in public and scientific debates in France. In this context, this study examines the suffering expressed in calls to the SPS platform between 2016 and 2024.

A sample of 34,920 calls and 330 verbatim transcripts was analyzed using a mixed-methods approach.

The results show a steady increase in the expression of suffering among health care workers (from 220 calls in 2016 to 7,005 calls in 2024), a predominance of organizational difficulties (42.4%) among the reported causes (intensification of institutional demands, lack of recognition, and deterioration of the atmosphere within teams), and expressions of suffering across all professions.

This study confirms previously established findings, while highlighting the importance of the relationship to work as the main source of health care workers' suffering. It underscores the need for support measures at the individual and managerial levels within health care teams and in hierarchical relationships.
