Patient transfers (TF) between hospitals and referrals (RF) from outpatient clinics (OC) are routine in clinical practice. Following the appointment of the first university neurosurgery chief physician, we analyzed 2825 neurosurgical cases from 2023-2025 using a Cooperation Map (CM) visualizing inpatient TF and outpatient RF. Both initially declined after the leadership change, then partially recovered. The Cooperation Map provides a promising visual analytics tool to monitor patient flows and supporting clinical decision-making.
