Coupling coordination degree between residents' livelihoods and ecological resilience in the Wuling Mountain area

Abstract:
The synchronized advancement of livelihood systems and ecosystems is crucial for attaining regional sustainable development. Using the coupling coordination degree model, Moran's I index, and geographic detectors, this study analyzes the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics and influencing factors of the coupling coordination degree (CCD) between residents' livelihoods and ecological resilience in the Wuling Mountain area (WMA). Results indicate: (1) the CCD exhibit an increasing trend, with significant regional variations; (2) the relationship exhibited a lag in livelihood development; (3) the CCD exhibit significant spatial correlation, primarily clustering in high-high and low-low types; (4) proportion of forest land was the primary factor affecting CCD, with all explanatory variables demonstrating increased interaction effects. This study elucidates the developmental patterns and determinants of the CCD between residents' livelihoods and ecological resilience in the WMA, with the objective of guiding sustainable development decision-making in the area of inquiry.
