Summary
This case study shows a successful transcatheter closure of a severe mitral paravalvular leak (PVL) in an elderly patient with complex anatomy. The procedure also included left atrial appendage occlusion, demonstrating feasibility of advanced percutaneous interventions.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Interventional Cardiology
- Structural Heart Disease
Background:
- Mitral paravalvular leak (PVL) is a serious complication after prosthetic valve implantation.
- Recurrent PVL in patients with prior closure attempts and complex anatomy poses significant management challenges.
- High surgical risk in elderly patients necessitates alternative treatment strategies.
