"Remodeling Education in Pathology and Biomedical Sciences: Prompting Effective Learning and Teaching with AI LLMs"

Mastering pathology and other biomedical science disciplines requires integrating complex biomedical concepts. The emergence of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), based on large language models (LLMs), presents a valuable opportunity to enhance health sciences education. In response, we developed a series of task-focused prompt-based assistants (PAs) designed to support effective student learning and faculty teaching basic medical science courses in undergraduate education. Our study describes the application of five standardized PAs for self-study, interactive activities, assessment creation, and how GenAI LLMs can play a transformative role in fostering active learning environments to drive curriculum development and pedagogical innovation.
