A p-n junction is formed when p-type and n-type semiconductor materials are joined together. At the interface of the p-n junction, holes from the p-side and electrons from the n-side begin to diffuse into the opposite sides due to the concentration gradient. Background:

  • High-performance carbon-based perovskite solar cells (C-PSCs) require improved crystalline quality of perovskite films.
  • Highly (100)-oriented perovskite films are crucial for suppressing recombination and enhancing charge transport.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop a scalable strategy for fabricating highly (100)-oriented perovskite films.
  • To improve the performance and stability of C-PSCs by optimizing the buried interface.

Main Methods:

  • A Pb-rich modified buried interface was engineered to promote perovskite nucleation and unidirectional crystallization.
  • Pb10(PO4)6O was used as an interface layer for better lattice matching and reduced strain.

Main Results:

  • Large-grained, (100)-oriented perovskite films were successfully fabricated.
  • Achieved a champion efficiency of 21.56% for C-PSCs and 18.12% for a 10.08 cm² carbon-based mini-module.
  • Demonstrated a T90 lifetime exceeding 1000 hours under ISOS-L-1I conditions.

Conclusions:

  • The proposed strategy is scalable and effective for producing high-performance C-PSCs.
  • The engineered interface significantly enhances perovskite film quality and device stability.
  • This work shows strong potential for large-area perovskite photovoltaic applications.
