Shor's algorithm is a quantum algorithm which was invented to efficiently factorize big numbers using quantum systems. As such, it promises to prove the supremacy of quantum computers for key applications of the future. Considering the collective abilities of self-organized systems to form defined and ordered motifs, it is shown for the first time that parts of Shor's algorithm can be adapted using coupled nanoporous anodic alumina (PAOX) systems. The ability of the pores to form different distributions of nearest neighbour coordinations is herein the basis to translate the solution of the period finding in Shor's algorithm into a physical, self-organized pattern.
