Abstract:
The post-mortem diagnosis of sepsis remains one of the most challenging tasks. While forensic microbiology has been significantly enhanced by molecular advancements, the reliability of these findings remains inherently tied to the quality of the sampling process and the interpretation of results. It argues that technological progress must be accompanied by the establishment of uniform, internationally recognized operating protocols and consensus guidelines. By defining precise chronological windows and standardized sampling techniques, the forensic scientific community can ensure that microbiology remains a robust and unassailable pillar of forensic investigation, capable of accurately distinguishing between post-mortem artifacts and genuine life-threatening infections.
