Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate if teleneurology services in rural primary care increased the proportion of patients with neurological symptoms managed solely within general practice.

  • A stepped-wedge cluster randomized clinical trial (NeTKoH study) was conducted in 41 GP practices in northeast Germany.
  • The study compared teleconsultations with standard care for patients aged 18+ presenting with neurological symptoms.
  • Follow-up duration was 3 months, with data analyzed between January and July 2025.

Main Results:

  • Fewer patients were managed solely within general practice in the teleconsultation group (38.3%) compared to standard care (50.7%).
