Climate warming intensifies freeze-thaw cycles in frozen regions, promoting micro(nano)plastic aging, fragmentation, and release of plastic-derived compounds. Aged plastics form plastisphere hotspots that may alter microbial carbon utilization and greenhouse gas emissions during thaw periods. This interaction represents a potential but unquantified positive climate feedback, requiring urgent experimental validation and integration into Earth System Models.
