  • Participants were assigned to either an exercise video group (M2M), exercise videos with social networking (M2Mplus), or an attention control group.
  • The primary outcome was measured using the Godin Leisure-Time Exercise Questionnaire (GLTEQ) at baseline, 24 weeks, and 48 weeks.

    • The M2Mplus group demonstrated significantly greater increases in GLTEQ scores at 24 weeks compared to the attention control group (P=.002).
    • The observed difference in physical activity levels between groups was not statistically significant by the 48-week follow-up.
    • Scalable mHealth interventions show potential for short-term physical activity enhancement.

    Conclusions:

    • mHealth exercise programs can effectively increase short-term physical activity in adults with mobility disabilities.
    • Sustaining physical activity gains after the intervention period remains a challenge.
    • Further research is needed to develop strategies for long-term adherence to mHealth-based exercise programs.
