Background:

Breast cancer is a leading cause of death for US women.
High mammographic density is a significant risk factor.
Tissue compactness is a novel metric for breast tissue density.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate transcriptomic differences between more and less compact breast tissue.
To identify genes associated with tissue compactness.

Main Methods:

RNA sequencing was performed on paired breast tissue samples.
Three individuals' paired more and less-compact tissues were analyzed.

Eight differentially expressed genes were identified.
