[Expression of GATA3 in Patients with Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma and Its Clinical Significance]

Objective:
To investigate the expression of the GATA binding protein 3 (GATA3) gene in patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) and its clinical significance.
Methods:
71 patients with PTCL who were treated in our hospital from March 2020 to March 2023 were collected. The expression level of GATA3 gene in their tissue samples was detected, and efficacy evaluation and survival analysis were performed for the patients.
Results:
Compared with patients with Ann Arbor stage I/II, the proportion of patients with high GATA3 expression was significantly higher in those with Ann Arbor stage III/IV (48.9% vs. 20.8%, χ2=5.253, P < 0.05). Similarly, compared with patients with an International Prognostic Index (IPI) score of 0-2, the proportion of patients with high GATA3 expression was significantly higher in those with an IPI score of 3-5 (52.4% vs. 20.7%, χ2=7.214, P < 0.05). The median overall survival (OS) in the high GATA3 expression group was significantly shorter than that in the low GATA3 expression group [17.0 (10.8-23.2) months vs. 24.0(18.5-29.4) months, χ2=6.233, P =0.013]. Similarly, the median progression-free survival (PFS) in the high GATA3 expression group was also significantly shorter than that in the low GATA3 expression group [14.0 (9.6-18.4) months vs. 21.0 (15.8-26.2) months, χ2=10.139, P =0.001].
Conclusion:
The GATA3 gene is closely associated with the prognosis of patients with PTCL. Patients with high expression of GATA3 may have a poorer prognosis.
