Background:
Self-editing tools for short-form video are being developed and adopted in the healthcare sector. However, evidence of their effectiveness for patient education remains limited.
Objectives:
This study developed a nurse-led technology-based nutrition education program using artificial intelligence-powered self-editing tools and examined its effects on patient knowledge, confidence, behaviors, and clinical indicators.
Methods:
41 patients who received a total or subtotal gastrectomy were enrolled. The experimental group received video-based nutrition education, maintained a lifestyle practice diary, and received encouraging text messages in addition to usual care.
Findings:
The experimental group showed significantly higher health behavior knowledge, self-management confidence, and cancer coping behavior, and significantly lower anxiety levels. Technology-based nutrition education using self-editing tools may support effective treatment outcomes for patients undergoing gastrectomy.
