Enzyme-free catalytic synthesis of phospholipid-type DHA/DPA offers a stable and cost-effective alternative to enzymatic routes. Herein, magnetically recoverable Zn- and Al-doped MnFe2O4-SiO2 core-shell catalysts were developed for esterification and acyl-exchange reactions. Calcination at 550 °C ensures crystalline stability and a preserved mesoporous structure. Metal incorporation forms Si-O-M (M = Zn, Al) linkages, generating thermally stable Lewis acid sites confirmed by Py-FTIR (∼1445 cm-1) active up to 450 °C. Although Al doping gives higher acidity (12.66 vs 9.01 μmol g-1), Zn-doped catalysts show superior performance, achieving DHA and DPA incorporation rates of 53.53 and 12.86%, respectively. Both catalysts retain over 50% activity after three cycles. These results indicate that Lewis site accessibility, rather than total acidity, governs bulky PUFA transformation and provide guidance for designing magnetically recyclable enzyme-free catalysts.
